• -3-
Exit B1 (page 2 of 3)
Permeability of the Stoneham soil is moderate. Available water capacity
is high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or mnore. Runoff is rapid,
and the hazard of water erosion is high. The hazard of soil blowing is
hiq h.
This unit is used mainly for native rangeland and wildlife habitat. It
is also used for gravel and raid fill.
The potential plant mm*iunity on this unit is mainly blue grams, s.idea3ts
greuna, and needleandthread. The average annual production of sir-dry
vegetation ranges fmn 900 to 1,200 pounds. If the range is Overgrazed, the
proportim of preferred forage plants decrease and the proportirn of less
preferred forage plants increases. Therefore, livestock grazing slnuld be
managed so that the desired balance of preferred species is maintained in the
ple~nt camnunity.
_ The suitability of this unit for rangeland seeding is poor. The main
limitations for seeding are slope and droughtiness. Livestock grazing should
be managed to protect the unit fran excessive erosion.
This unit is poorly suited to windbreaks and environmental plantings.
The main limitations are slope and droughtiness.
This unit is poorly suited to hanesite development. If this unit is used
fox homesite development, the main limitations are slope and the hazard of
erosion.
This map unit is in capability subclass VIIe. The Schamber soil is in
Gravel Breaks range site, arr] the Stoneham soil is in Loamy Slopes range
site.
i
