• -14- : Exhibit D (page 3 of 4) <br />at a rate of 40 lb/ac could be used as cover crops. <br />The permanent seeding mixture will be planted directly into existing crop <br />residue. Herbicides will be applied to the cover crop if it is desireable <br />to reduce competition from perennial or persistant weedy plants. <br />Mainte~iance: <br />Planted sites shall be protected from trampling and grazing until plants <br />are we:Ll established. <br />Weed control methods will be utilized if competitive weeds become a problem <br />to the planting. Broadleaf weeds should be sprayed while actively growing <br />and bel:ore reaching 4-6 inches in height. Seeded grasses should be in a <br />4 leaf stage prior to spraying. Selective herbicides such as 2,4-D or <br />Banvel should be applied according to labeled instructions. It may be <br />necessary to spray twice the first year and once the second year after <br />planting. <br />If weedy grasses become a problem, they will be mowed or shredded. The <br />height and time of mowing or shredding will be such that more leaves are <br />cut from weedy grasses than seeded grasses. <br />
