1
'• Saae Creek
Pond 012 will supply water to the mine for non-potable uses. It will be used as an
alternate point of storage for the Sage Creek Reservoir water right and an alternate point of
diversion for the Bates Ditch water right. Storage under the Sage Creek Reservoir water right
' will be limited to 45.5 acre-feet annually (40.0 acre-feet for industrial purposes and 5.5 acre-
feetfor evaporation-. Diversions into storage under the Bates Ditch water right will be limited
to 1.0 cfs from June 8 through July 18 (historical diversion period) and to 12.3 acre-feet
' annually.
The Yoast Mine Shop Well will cause depletions to Sage Creek at the rate of 8.65
' percent of the annual pumpage. If the well produces 41 acre-feet in a given year, the
depletion to Sage Creek would be about 3.5 acre-feet annually. In order to replace out-of-
priority depletions to Sage Creek during the irrigation season, Pond 012 will retain 1.8 acre-
, feet of water in storage for release to Sage Creek.
' Grassv Creek
Pond 010 will be an alternate point of storage for the Sage Creek Reservoir water right
' and use of such water will be limited to 45.5 acre-feet annually for industrial purposes,
evaporation and maintenance of storage reservoirs. The use of the Sage Creek Reservoir
storage right will be limited to the non-irrigation season and to periods during the irrigation
season when water is flowing past the Sage Creek Ditch to the Yampa River. During other
times, water will be stored in Pond 010 under it's own water right or it's out-of-priority
storage of water will be replaced by storage releases from SCC's Wadge Pit Reservoir or by
contract releases from Stagecoach Reservoir.
Wadge Pit Reservoir is located on a tributary of Grassy Creek as shown on Plate 1.
' It was decreed for industrial and other purposes in 1977 with a capacity of 270 acre-feet.
SCC also has a contract with the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District for 100 acre-feet
of water stored in Stagecoach Reservoir, which is located on the Yampa River about 14 miles
south of Steamboat Springs. The water will be released from Stagecoach Reservoir to replace
depletions to the Yampa River caused by water uses at the Yoast Mine and the Seneca II-W
Mine.
1 Terms and Conditions
The plan for augmentation will allow SCC to develop ayear-round water supply for
domestic and industrial purposes at the Yoast Mine. The following terms and conditions are
recommended so that other existing water uses are not adversely impacted.
' 1 . An accumulating flow meter should be installed on the Yoast Mine Shop Well and on
the discharge line from the well to Pond 010. Well pumpage should be recorded
monthly and deliveries to Pond 010 should be recorded weekly or as directed by the
Water Commissioner. Volumes of water used from Pond 010 and Pond 012 should
be measured and recorded weekly. The well pumping capacity will be limited to a rate
of 35 gpm.
' 9
