November 9, 1981
:f a ~..~ ~~- ; ~Ey
,~
'~~'1~~ 1 ~ 1981
Mark S. Loye
Mined Land Reclamation
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Re: File Nos. 81-154 and 81-214 thru 81-226
Mr. Loye;
L-"~. j ~C~.r{i11r1 TiCIV
~~ - ~~O
Clarification of points in your letter dated 11-6-81.
Certified mail receipts denote all property owners containing
gravel pits, and owners of property immediately adjacent to
said pits. Most of the pits are on land owned by one property
owner which completely surrounds the gravel pit. Owners noti-
fied are the ones having property either adjacent or within 4
mile of gravel site.
Exhibit B (1) I am sorry this Boas omitted. The top soil stock-
piles will be seeded with perennial grass cover until reclama-
tion is completed. (3) San Miguel River will be protected by
berms situated between river and areas of operation in pit ~~13.
Hillside area adjacent to river will have a 2-step berm as out-
lined by Corps of Engineers, and gravel stockpiles will be placed
on elevated pad areas also outlined by the Corps.
Exhibit D (3) See above. Same as B (3).
Exhibit E (4) Seeding rates given are broadcast rates as
suggested by S.C.S. (5) a~_-_S.lo uarries. These are in
solid rock and must be drilled and blaste for stone material.
Sides are generally not over ten-fin height and require
blasting in about five (5) feet steps. b. All other pits will
be sloped to fit the general contour of surrounding terrain and
to facilitate eventual usage of farming, grazing and wildlife
habitat. A general rule will be slopes no greater than 2 or 3
to 1. (6) I have contacted the S.C.S. and B.L.M. and they will
regulate the grazing on these lands and they also share your
concerns. (7) Pit ~~13 will be reseeded in all areas that we
distunb until such time as development does occur.
Hoping this will suffice.
Re~ectfully
.r~C c C ,„ '~t
Pail Sale
Road Supervisor
San Miguel County

PS/jb
