structures, facilities, slab footings and foundations will be demolished and buried on-site.
Areas disturbed by decommissioning will be regraded, covered with topsoil, and revegetazed.
On-site burial of concrete or asphalt at the time of sodium mine site decommissioning will be
subject to prior approval by the BLM.
2.2.3 Access Roads
A main access road will be constructed from Rio Blanco County Road 5 (Piceance Creek
Road) to the Piceance Site processing plant. The access road will be a 24-foot-wide asphalt
concrete road with 4-foot-wide shoulders. A few permanent service roads will be located
through the Piceance Site, most of which are already in place (Steigers Corporation 1998).
Temporary roads will be necessary to allow access to areas under development and operation
with the well field. Each mining panel will have a central access road. A network of minor
access roads will be constructed to serve the wells. These well access roads will be
consttveted concurrent with development of new wells.
2.3 DOCUMENT SCOPE
The Plan describes measures and procedures that will be used to conserve soils and control
erosion and sedimentation during the development and operation of the Yankee Gulch Project.
The Plan also identities measures and procedures that will he implemented for interim
revegetation and stabilization of disturbed areas, and for final reclamation. Monitoring
activities are prescribed to evaluate the success of erosion control and revegetation efforts
during the development, operation, and closure of project components. The measures and
procedures described in The Plan will be used to recreate pre-project land uses: to control
erosion and sedimentation; and to restore stable, safe and productive postmining conditions to
the project area to the degree practical and achievable under available technology and BMPs.
American Soda Ll.P. 2-3
Sml Consmmnw.
