M99238GE
• - The materials encountered in the test borings were described
and samples retrieved for the subsequent laboratory study.
- The laboratory study included tests of select soil samples
obtained during the field study to help assess;
. the soil strength potential (internal friction angle and
cohesion) of samples tested,
. the moisture content and density of samples tested, and
. the moisture content-dry density relationship (Proctor) test
of the subgrade support soil sample tested.
- This report presents our geotechnical engineering comments,
suggestions and recommendations for planning and design of site
development including embankment slope and excavation cut slope
stability assessment.
Our comments, suggestions and recommendations are based on the
subsurface soil and ground water conditions encountered during
our site and laboratory studies.
- Our requested scope of services was only to provide strength
test results and comments regarding the slope stability of the
proposed embankment fill and excavation cut slopes for the
proposed pond "B".
• - Our study did not include any environmental or geologic hazard
issues. Our study did not include assessment of seepage
characteristics.
2.0 SITE CHARACTERISTICS
Site characteristics include observed existing and pre-existing
site conditions that may influence the geotechnical engineering
aspects of the proposed site development.
2.1 Site Location
The proposed Sediment Pond "B" site is located adjacent to the
Old State Highway 135 near the existing Bowie Number 2 Mine site
entrance about nine (9) miles east of Paonia, Colorado. A project
vicinity map is presented on Figure 1.
2
•
lambert anD ~,sgaeiates
CONSULTING GEOTECN NICAI ENGINEERS ANO
M ATE RIA~~TESTINO
