zo
UNIT II i~II~iING AREA
Reclamation of Unit II shall commence, as before with Unit I, as the gravel extraction
from that unit is nearly complete, in the southwest comer. After increasing the project
financial warranty to include the mining activity for Unit III, the overburden stockpiled
upon and the naturally occurring overburden covering un-mined gravel deposits within
Unit III shall be transferred and spread evenly over the worked-out pit floor of Unit II to
flatten it and finish-grade it to rrratch the grade of the mined and reclaimed Unit I area,
adjacent [o the south. Back-filling and reclamation of the east 200 feet of the worked-out
Unit II mining azea shall be delayed, however, to allow its use as an extension of the
Proc/Stock azea for on-going operations. The remaining steep west headwall of the
5nished pit shall be "cut 'n fill" graded to shallower that 3:1 back-slopes. 3-foot earthen
berms shall border the east and north perimeters of the backfilled pit, as before, to prevent
surface water runoff. Prepared surfaces shall be topsoiled from the topsoil stockpile lying
west of the pit, seeded, and mulched as earlier specified at the eazliest climatic opportunity.
South portions of the Proc/Stock azea no longer needed for operations shall be rip-
loosened by bulldozer or road grader and topsoiled 6 to 10 inches deep from the topsoil
stockpiled at the south boundary. Seeding and mulching per the listed speciScations shall
follow at the eazliest climatic opportunity.
The project financial warranty shall be proportionately reduced for phased reclamation
performed and completed.
UNIT III do SUCCEEDING IViINING AREAS
Back-filling of the worked out pit with overburden taken from the next mining unit
(following appropriate financial warranty posting) shall occur for each mining azea
completed in rum as the muting progresses north a unit at a time. Simile pit floor grading,
west headwall slope reduction by cut & fill dozer shaping, perimeter berming, topsoiling
from west topsoil stockpiles, speciScation seeding & mulching, and financial warranty
reduction shall occur as appropriate.
B.L.NL SEEDING SPECIFICATION
Seed shall be applied with a grass seed drill at the specified rates to a one-half to three-
quarters inch depth in a firm, lightly-tilled seedbed. Steep azeas are to be hand broadcast at
double the specified drill-applied rates and dragged for specified seed cover. Weed-free
straw or hay mulch shall be applied after seeding at two tons per acre, and crimped into the
soil with an un-canted disc or mulch crimper.
The seed mix shall be as follows.
