-12A- cxniozc nv <br />MINED LAND F~DLIFE STATEMENT/EVALUAT2O2~evised) <br />for Limited impact and select regular mine applications <br />The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for <br />use by Mined Land Reclamation Board in their consideration of a <br />mining permit for: <br />1~}c <br />PETERS (:RAVEL PIT Nld}of SE} and SW}of5£} SECTION 25 TZO R55 <br />Name/Type and Location of Mine (Legal) <br />Wildlii`e Species List: <br />Pronghorn antelope, coyote, shorebirds on stock pond, cottontail rabbits, <br />jackrabbits, various reptiles and passerine birds. <br />Endangered/Critical Species/Impacted: <br />No endangered or critical species impacted. <br />Critic<L1 Habitats/Vegetative Communities Impacted: <br />No .critical Habitats impacted. The vegetative community consists mainly of <br />blue gr.zmma grass and saltbush. <br />Assessnent of Impact: <br />Soth long and short range effects should be minimal if reclamation and <br />revegetation arc properly done. The stock pond should be maintained with <br />water in it if passible to provide habitat for the shorebirds and other <br />species wlio require Cliis source of open water. The area appears Co contain <br />highly crodable sandy soils which will be difficult to revegetate. <br />Mine Reclamation Recommendations (include key species/habitats for <br />which restoration is designed): <br />As soon as mining is completed on any part or all of the pit, revegetation <br />should be implemented as soon as possible to prevent erosion. Native grasses <br />in the blue gramma community that arc found on the site should be used for <br />revegetation. The stock pond catchment and dike should be restored to provide <br />habitat for shorebirds and other species who need a source of open water.
