Section D.6 Tailing Disposal
Section D.6.2 Material Characteristics
Section D.6.2.1 Geotechnical Characteristics
STEVE: Please Note: Although a number of test pits were excavated in the
South Waste Rock/Tailing Disposal Area, there were no boreholes completed
within the disposal perimeter, as illustrated on Figure C.1, in Appendix C.
Is this information needed to determine suitability of disposal fa~:ility
foundation?
Section D.6.2.2 Geochemical Characteristics
25. The analyses presented in Appendix F indicated that the material was
ground to -10 mesh and thoroughly blended. The textural analyses of the
tailing material presented in Appendix D indicated that approximately 81% of
the whole tailing were smaller than 200 mesh. The tailing analyses conducted
to determine resulting water quality may therefore not be representative of
the final tailing disposed. Please address.
26. Was the tailing material processed through the flotation and ~~r the
carbon-in-leach circuit prior to analysis? If so, please describe the
processing methods, chemicals utilized, duration, rinsing methods ~~nd
duration, etc. If not, the simulation should be made, with actual expected
tailing size represented, to reflect the expected water quality resulting from
processed tailing disposal.
27. The acid producing and acid neutralization potential analyses conducted
on the tailing material indicate that the material has a net negative acid
neutralizing potential, and can thus be classified as an acid producing
material. Please specify what disposal methods will be employed t~~ mitigate
the potential acid production and resulting heavy metal liberation.
Section D.7.2 Site Description
STEVE: Please Note: Although a number of test pits were excavated in the
Heap Leach Facility location, the were no boreholes completed within the
perimeter of this facility. Is this information needed to determine the
suitability of the facility foundation?
