EXHIBIT G -WATER INFORMATION
Section G.2 Surface Water
Section G.2.1 Site Description
85. Please include Sodium Adsorption Ration (SAR) as one of the parameters
measured in the water quality analyses. Please specify which species of
cyanide will be analysed; it recommended that free and total cyanide plus
thiocyanate (a compound which often skews the free cyanide reading) be
analysed.
86. Please indicate when the water quality monitoring relults will be
submitted to the Division.
87. Please include surface and ground water monitoring stations down-gradient
from the heap pad and the southern waste rock/tailing disposal facility, and a
surface water monitorring station downstream of the old heap and upstream of
the proposed tailing/waste rock disposal facility.
EXHIBIT H - Wildlife
88. The Staff contacted Battle Mountain's attorney, A. Walter Wise,
requesting that a copy of the application be sent to the Colorado Division of
Wildlife (DOW) for their review and comment, if any.
89. The Mined Land Reclamation Board's consideration of Earth Sciences,
Inc.'s 1983 amendment to the currently existing permit No. M-79-021 noted the
DOW's July 17, 1983 recommendation for site closure between January 1 and
March 31 of each year, as the mine site is considered as critical deer and elk
wintering range. The Board approved the amendment with a specific statement
encouraging the company to establish a policy minimizing the possibility of
poaching or other damage to wildlife. Please specify what, if any, provisions
have been postulated to accomodate the Board's request.
