Points:
I have completed 'a preliminary adequacy review of the above application and
have the following additional questions. Please respond on a point-by-point
basis in the order given below,
Upon reviewing this plan I was impressioned with the fact that the operator
wishes to stress the historic attributes of such operations, particularly with
regards to reclamation. For example, the point is made that "iC should be
left just as it is so people can see the western hardrock underground mining
operation." Although we recognize that certain buildings may have been listed
in the National Register, and some localities have been deemed historic districts,
and appreciate these considerations, I must point out that new disturbance is
by no means "historical" and must be reclaimed per the provisions of the law.
Exhibit C -
Please modify your map to show the following:
1. Areas of old disturbance regarding waste dumps, buildings, and any other
types of surface disturbance resulting from historic-type of activities
(but noC the active tailings pond) occurring within the permitted area
but will not be rf~disturbed. It would be helpful if these areas could
be color-coded on the map.
2. Areas to be included within the permit boundaries as new disturbance
including locations of waste rock placement, buildings, and any other
types of surface disturbance to be used in conjunction with the mining
operation.
