The fastest mile windspeed is used to calculate an equivalent friction velocity, which varies based
on the area of [he stockpile. [n cases where the equivalent friction velocity exceeds the threshold velocity,
emissions occur. Emission quani[ities from wind erosion are obtained using a series of equations. These
multiplications yield an emission rate in grams per occurance. These quantities are summe dover all the
periods to determine emissions in tons per year. Waste rock will be added to the waste dump on a daily
basis, resulting in one disturbance for each operating day. Waste rock will be dumped in a berm along [he
crest of the waste dump and subsequently pushed onto the face of the waste dump. The areas of daily
disturbance are calculated based on [he maximum daily production of waste rock [o be dumped and
pushed onto the face and [he surface area of the face of the waste dump.
Surface Area Equations: SAw,o=SAr+SA,
SAr= L * W
SA,= W * t * (1 +Angw,oz)zn
t = (Haz * AnSa)/L
W =Minimum Value of Wno or (P * SV)/(Haz *Anga)
L = (Hwoz+(Hwn*AnSwu)z)irz
Where: SAwo =Total Daily Surface Area of Disturbance of Waste Dump (ftZ or mZ)
SAr= Surface Area of Disturbance on Face of Waste Dump (ftz)
SA, =Surface Area of Disturbance on Top of Waste Dump (ftZ)
L = Length of waste dump face from crest [o toe (ft)
W = Width of Stockpile (ft)
t =Average thickness of waste rock on waste dump face (ft)
Anger =Slope of waste dump face
Hn =Average height of waste rock berth prior to pushing over edge (ft)
Anga = Slope of the waste rock berm prior to pushing over edge (ft)
W~ =Average width of front edge of the waste dump (ft)
SV =Specific volume ofore and waste rock (ft'/[on)
P =Daily production rate of waste rock (ton/day)
Hwo =Maximum height of waste dump (ft)
