TABLE4
ENERGY FUELS RESOURCES CORPORATION -WHIRLWIND MINE
STOCE:PILE EMISSIONS -CRITERIA POLLUTANTS
Emission Source: Wind Erosion of Stockpiles (Topsoil, Waste Dump, and Ore)
Pollutants: TSP and PMrs
Emission Factor From: AP-42, Section 13.2.5
Industrial Wind Erosion
Explanation: Emissions of TSP and PM~a from wind erosion of stockpiles is calculated as a function of
fastest mile wind speed, threshold velocity, the number of disturbances per year, the surface
area of each disturbance, the erosion potential, and particle size. Emissions from wind erosion
are obtained using a series of equations. These multiplications yield an emission rate in tons
per year. Due to the number of calculations involved, a summary of calculations is presented
here. Full calculations of estimated emissions are provided in Tables 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3.
Definitions: E„~ =Total uncontrolled emissions ([on/yr)
E~ =Total controlled emissions (todyr)
Summary of Wind Erosion Emission Calculations

Stockpile PM~s
E„~ E,
(ton/yr) (ton/yr) PMT
E„r Er
(ton/yr) (ton/yr)
Waste Dump 0.096 0.096 0.192 0.192
Ore Piles 0.002 0.002 0.003 0.003
Topsoil Berth and Stockpiles 0.037 0.009 0.075 0.019
Total 0.135 O.I07 0.270 0.214
I Total suspended particulates is assumed [o be equivalent to PM ao and total PM, as referenced in AP-42, Section 13.2.5.
