before the 2002 permit conversion. This is approximately 11,800 cy. Using an average of 10
inches over the remaining area to be mined of 7.2 acres yields an additional 12960 cy. As
described earlier, this topsoil will not be entirely stockpiled. Once an area of final grade
slope is prepared, some topsoil from the area in advance of the mining will be used to
reclaim this slope.
CRUSHING AND STOCKPILE AREAS -The excavated gravel resource is crushed and
stockpiled according to size near the mining area. Maximum processing is approximately
3,000 tons per day. Since a portable crusher is used, the location of the crushing operation
and processed stockpiles change as the mining proceeds west across the mining area.
Crushing operations will not occur during the winter months. Used asphalt pavement and
concrete rubble is also stockpiled within the mining area for future crushing. Once the
asphalt and concrete is crushed to its proper size, it is stockpiled for use as a recycled
material in new construction. Occasionally, soil that has been determined to be free of
debris and inert is brought to the site and stockpiled for use during reclamation efforts.
STAGING AREA - 1.8 acres within the permit boundary is designated as a staging area.
Activities that occur within the graveled surtaced area include:
^ Truck Scale.
^ Fuel Storage.
^ Equipment Parking and Maintenance.
^ Overflow Resource Stockpiling.
^ Lab and Tool Trailer Parking.
^ Seasonal Watchman's Residence (self contained R~.
~~~_ &~
~~ ~
"v - ~ ~ ;.
T~~ ate:
-~-: ~ ,...,,~.~.~ ~ _ , -~~ ~a~
-~.;
t f
rw,,,,
!i i _ t
a ~~~ ~~
~~ ~.: r
~d -* ~.~-.~.:
Staging Area.
