•
Exhibit C
Item 1: Operation of the pit is proposed to begin in June of 1989. The
duration of the gravel pit will be at least five years as indicated in the
agreement with the landowner. However, this site is not accessible during
winter months so all activity will be during May through October.
Item 2: Approximately one foot of topsail will be removed from three acres
of the site and stockpiled for use in final reclamation. The soil will be
removed with a dozer, and/or scraper, by pushing it directly south to the
southern boundary of the gravel site. The soil will remain in this location ~
for the duration of the gravel operation. The stockpile will be stabilized I
with vegetation until used in final reclamation, per Soil Conservation Service
(SCS) recommendation. Once gravel is removed from the initial three acres,
then a second three acres will be exposed by removing the topsoil and placing
it over the initial three acre site in preparation for revegetation. The
third phase will follow the same sequence. Overall disturbance will be less
than 10 acres.
Item 3: There will be no overburden or waste rock. Once the topsoil is
removed, all of the underlying material will be usable.
Item 4: The gravel that will be removed appears to be at least 20' thick.
This is visible since sometime in the past a small amount of gravel was exca-
vated from this site.
Item 5: The major components of the gravel operation will be an existing
access road and an occasional crushing or screening plant for short periods.
Item 6: The dimensions of the disturbed area will be approximately 400'
wide and 950' long.
Item 7: ThP existing access road is approximately 16' wide and 300' long.
No improvements will be necessary.
