• Rock Dust Tanks
There are four rock dust tanks currently in use at RAG Empire. These are:
RAG Empire Village
Shop
No. SA
These tanks are required [o store dust for dusting purposes ofthe mined out underground areas.
Magazine
The magazine location is shown on Map 25, and Map 26, and as can be seen, it is located in the general area of the
No. 5 Portal.
Two magazines will be used to store permissible powder and blasting caps. One magazine is approximately 2.5' x 2.3'
x 2.5', while the other is approximately 5' x 6' x 7'.
The old magazine located north of the red rock crusher site (for which a small area exemption exists) of
approximately 100 feet square was reclaimed. Approximately 185 cy of topsoil was spread to a depth of about 6
inches. The site was then seeded.
Ancillary Facilities
. Ancilliary facilities include railroad track scale, miscellaneous light duty roads, and miscellaneous storage yards.
These facilities are shown on the Structures and Renewable Resources Map (Map 25).
Construction drawings of many of the facilities listed above were included in previous RAG EC permit submittals
(1983). Since these facilities are now in place and have been approved by the appropriate Government agencies, these
drawings have been deleted from this submittal.
Mul[iole Services Building
Empire constructed a multiple services building [hat is approximately 6,250 ft2, and a 100,000 gallon water storage
tank. The location for the building and water tank is shown on Maps 25 and 26.
The building houses bulk storage tanks (as identified on page 2.05.3R), emulsion pumps, water pumps, air
compressors, a waste oil furnace, an oil water separator, and two open areas for equipment maintenance and storage
of [he fire [rnck/foam generating equipment. The power supply for the building comes from [he existing substation,
located in the SA storage yard. Apad-mounted transformer is located adjacent to the building. The water tank is used
in conjunction with the water pumps to provide high-pressure water to the underground mine water system.
Boreholes are used to drop the water lines into the mine. This water is used to supply water for the emulsion system,
for dust control and, in an emergency, for fire fighting. The emulsion pumps pump mixed emulsion underground to
the longwall. Boreholes are used to provide compressed air from air compressors for use underground. As shown on
Map 25, the building is constructed within the SA portal area and the water tank on the road to the red rock crusher
site. As a result, there was no new disturbance from this construction. Reclamation for these sites is discussed under
• [he SA portal and red rock crusher. Bond calculations for the building and tank removal are shown in Exhibit 25. The
only additional sediment control is a slight expansion of the red rock crusher small area exemption and the relocation
of ditch CS-D2, as shown on Map 26.
APPRO~D M!~R 15 if~2
MidTerm Response 2.05-16 ~\"~o~~ Revised 12/05/01
