CLASSIFICATION OF MAJOR COMPONENTS
•
Torrifluvents, nearly level; Great Group Torrifluvents.
INCLUSIONS
Included in the mapping unit are isolated areas of the Wann soils
(Coarse -loamy, Mixed, Mesic Fluvaquentic Haplustolls). These
make up 15 percent of this unit and are on 1 to 3 percent slopes.
Also included in mapping are small areas of moderate to severely
alkali affected soils. There are isolated and small areas where
water stands near or at the surface year round.
MAPPING UNIT BL - BADLAND
• This unit consists of steep and very steep, nearly barren land dis-
sected by many intermittent drainage channels that have entrenched
into the soft shale and sandstone of the Green River formation
and the soft shale and siltstone of the Wasatch, Mancos, and Mesa
Verde formations. About SS percent or more of this unit is unve-
getated. It occurs mainly on steep foothill and mountain slopes
that have shale or sandstone rock outcrop exposures. Water erosion
is very high and geologic erosion is active. The capability subclass
is VIIIe, non-irrigated.
INCLUSIONS
Included in the mapping unit are small isolated areas of Dollard,
Lazear, and Tanna soils. Dollard soils are Fine, Montmorillonitic
(calcareous) Frigid Ustic Torriorthents. Lazear soils are Loamy,
• Mixed (calcareous), Mesic Lithic Ustic Torriorthents. Tanna soils
2-16
