~ ~. Schamber-Razor area
-~
Deep and moderately deep, well drained soils that have gravelly and clayey
subsoils on gently rolling to steep breaks. '.
Areas of these soils are in narrow bands from Colorado Springs Routh
to the Pueblo County line mostly on the weat side of Fountain Creek.
i This soil area occupies about one percent of the survey area. About
40 percent of the area is Schamber soil, 30 percent Razor soil, and the
remaining 30 percent is soib of minor extent.

The Schamber soil is usually in a higher position in the landscape
than the Razor soil, The Schamber soil is deep and has gravelly loam
surface layers and very gravelly loam and very gravelly sand underlying
~~ layers. The Razor soil has clay loam surface layers and heavy clay loam
or clay subsoils over shale at depths of 20 to 40 inches, It has a
high shrink-swell potential.
The minor soils in this area are the somewhat excessively drained
Chaseville soil and the well drained Reldt, Kim and NLidway soils.
This soil are4 is used for grazing livestock, wildlife habitat, and
military maneuvers and impact areas. It is also a source of gravel.
a~'
