Premining Vegetation
Two vegetation types will be affected by the scraper mining operation.
These are the mixed brush type and the aspen type (identified as the aspen
subtype of the mixed brush type). Tab 10, Vegetation study of the Seneca
Mine permit discusses premining vegetation types in detail. Worst case
disturbance acrezoes are 9.0 acres for the aspen type and 21.2 acres for
the mixed brush type. These acreages relate only to disturbances for
stockpile BB, the actual scraper mining disturbance and the temporary
diversion. It should be noted that these acreages were to be affected by
the normal mining advance as detailed on Exhibit 12-1 "Operations Plan"
contained in the Seneca Permit Renewal document. The scraper mining will
result in disturbance of the areas annotated on the attached er,hibits
earlier than originally anticipated.
REVEGETATION PLAN
Temporary Reclamation. The previously described mining operations will
• result in three areas of temporary reclamation. These areas include
stabilization of topsoil stockpile BB, seeding of the temporary diversion
ditch, and temporary reclamation of approximately 8.2 acres of rough
graded spoils in the southern portion of the mining area.
As noted in the topsoil salvage and handling discussion, salvaged topsoil
will be placed in stockpile BB. As backfillina and grading operations
progress, a portion of the salvaged topsoil will be taken from stockpile
BB and respread on the areas that have been final graded. Because
redisturbance of this stockpile will occur in a relatively short time
after establishment, seeding of Seed Mix No. 3 (Topsoil Stockpile hlix)
will not be done. A small catchment ditch will be constructed around the
stockpile to control runoff and sediment. If the topsoil stockpile BB is
to receive further disturbance within a year, only a cover crop of wheat
or barley as specified in Seed Mix No. 4 will be applied. If the
stockpile is to remain undisturbed for longer than a year, Seed Idix No. 3
• will be applied.
5 02/13/87
