• Section 816.153(b) Continued.
The roadway drainage has been previously described in Section 816.153
(a)(1). The road sections have been designed in accordance with the
above standards to provide good drainage and to control erosion
whether in a cut or fill situation. (See Figure 25, Existing Class
I Road - Typical Sections.; and Figure 26, Proposed Class I Road -
Typical Sections.)
Drainage control for Class I roads has been designed for the 10-year,
24-hour precipitation event, as required. Ditches are proposed on
both sides of cut sections and on the uphill side of cut-and-fill
sections, as shown in Figure 25, Existing Class I Roads - Typical
Sections, and Figure 26, Proposed Class I Roads - Typical Sections.
In some cases roads have been regraded to drain all runoff to a
single, uphill side ditch. The roadside ditches are specified as
triangular in shape, with 2:1 slopes and one foot minimum depth.
These specifications are more than adequate to handle the design
flow, as demonstrated in the designs provided in Exhibit 42, Drainage
and Sediment Control Plan.
(c) Culverts and bridges. (1j(i) Culverts with an end area of 35 square
feet or less shall be designed to safely pass the 10-year, 24-

816-191 aaR
Revised - January, 1991
