Meniam's Wild Turkey, American marten and common trout. Of the
remaining 3 species, elk are common in all habitat types throughout the area.
There will be a minor amount of habitat lost and limited amount of
disturbance during construction and drilling operations. The limited amount
of activity associated with the proposed activities will not impact the
viability of the species.
Red-naped sapsuckers are commonly observed in all aspen stands. Only a
few aspen will be taken during road and drill pad construction. The small
amount of disturbance will not impact the viability of the red-naped
sapsucker population.
Northern goshawks were discussed in the Sensitive Species section of this
report.
This project will not impact the viability of any listed Management
Indicator Species in the area.
Threatened. Endaneered and Sensitive Plant Suedes
There are no endangered or threatened plant species known to occur in the
project area.
The Uinta Basin hookless cactus (Sclerocactus glaucus), which is listed as
Threatened, is known to occur in the North Fork Valley west of Paonia at
elevations under 6000 feet. Elevations at drill sites in the project area range
from 8200 to 9000 feet.
The Adobe or Rocky Mountain thistle (Cirsium perplexans) is listed as
sensitive by both the Forest Service and BLM. A review of habitat
requirements for this species shows that it occurs in adobe soils that are well
below the elevation of activities associated with this project.
Slender cotton grass (Eriophorum gracile) is listed as sensitive by the Forest
Service, but habitat conditions suitable for this species are lacking in the
project area.
