' EXHIPIT D - RECLAMATION PLAN
The present land-use is agricultural - pasture for horses and
' cattle. The surrounding land and land-uses in the vicinity are also
agricultural. The reclamation plan is to return to site to a condition
similiar to its present condition so that grazing may continue.
' All materials mined will 6e transported from the site. There is no
overburden to be backfilled. Following the sand removal, grading will
' be conducted to recontour the site to a gentle sloping gradient.
The reclaimed slope will be similar to the pre-mining topography,
Upon final reclamation the site will be returned to a topography similar
' to that prior to mining.
The thici:ness of the growth medium is 0-b inches and will be
' replaced on all areas to be revegetated at a 6 inch depth. Growth
medium will be redistributed in such a manner to provide optimum tilth
far seed application. Fertilizer types and rates will be added in
' quantities determined necessary after analysis of composite soil
samples.
Seeding will tak
' maximum advantage for
The seed will 6e
' following seed mix:
' SPECIES
= place in late fall or early spring to ensure
soil moisture when germination occurs.
drilled to a 1!4" to 1!2" in the seedbed with the
DRILL 5EEDED*
PLS/ACRE SEED/SQ FT
' smooth brome 4.3 13,3
crested wheatgrass 3.0 13.1
pubescent wheatgrass 5.7 13.1
' * If broadcast seeded the amounts will be doubled,
1
Following seeding, a native hay mulch will be spread over the
' seeded area at a rate of 1.5 tons/acre. Within 24 hours of mulching,
the straw will be crimped 1-4 inches into the soil to prevent it from
blowing, improve soil tilth, conserve moisture and ensure the gratest
probability of successful revegetation.
Temporary haul roads and stockpile areas will be ripped, scarified,
topsoiled and revegetated using the same procedures.
1
RECLAMATION COSTS
' Mar.imum disturbence at any time: 3 Acres
