~~
You can leave these units on the maps if you want to declare that they are also part of the
mining plan and you address these areas appropriately in all other necessary exhibits.
Not all of [he land within the permit boundary will be affected land. Refer to the definition
of affected land and delineate affected land boundaries that can be marked in the field in
accordance with Rule 3.1.12. To accomplish this you may want to enlarge you map scale to
effectively show the dimensions of land affected by roads, railroads, etc.
A map in this exhibit titled "Soil Salvage Units" shows a salvage unit E which is nearly
entirely outside of areas you have shown to be affected by other mining operations. If you
intend to salvage soil from this unit, you must include it in the affected land's boundary and
include the treatment of this area in all other appropriate exhibits. The same holds for
portions of salvage unit D. Please explain the salvage unit boundaries.
EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
Your introduction states that "disturbed sites will be graded to be free-draining to small
sediment ponds which will discharge via infiltration and through check dams." The
Division assumes that these ponds and check dams are separate surface water/erosion control
structures from those described in your section 1.6. Please show the location of these ponds
on the Mining Plan Map. Provide plans and specifications for the construction of the ponds,
and provide their capacities.
Your section l.l. states that berms and ditches will be used to protect Tallahassee Creek
from uncontrolled runoff from mining operations. Will the berms and ditches divert water
down gradient to an outlet location? If so what will they outlet to? Provide plans and
specifications for these berms and ditches and show their location on a Mining Plan Map of
sufficient scale to delineate them.
3. Your section titled "Granite Quarry" states that a combination rail and haul road crossing of
Tallahassee Creek will be constructed to the Granite Quarry. Provide plans and
specifications for this crossing including the size and number of the culvert or pipes to be
installed and plans for installing rip-rap. Provide information showing the watershed area
and calculate peak flow of the 100-year storm event. Also provide a discussion of how the
installation can be accomplished to minimize impact on brown trout passage and spawning.
You should consult with the Division of Wildlife.
Your plan includes small sediment ponds to control erosion. Please provide plans and
specifications for their installation. Be sure to include information on the size of the
structures and their capacities. Wi11 these structures be removed upon reclamation?
Will the granite Granite Quarry haul roads to and from the upper benches be within the
affected land boundary? Show the location of these roads on the Mining Plan Map.
6. Will the rock processing equipment at the Granite Ouatry be portable or will it be mounted
on foundations or footings? If any concrete structures over a few cubic yards will be
