Battle Mountain Must Monitor The Heap Leach Area To <br />Ensure The Surrounding Soils Are Not Contaminated B' <br />Cyanide Spray. <br />The cyanide solution being sprayed over the heap leach <br />will not always be contained on the heap leach, possibly <br />contaminating the nearby soils, and ground and surface waters. <br />Battle Mountain should be required to develop and maintain a <br />program to assure that nearby soils are not contaminated with <br />sprayed cyanide solution. If such contamination does occur that <br />Battle Mountain must be required to undertake all appropriate <br />remedial efforts to assure that there is no contaminati~~n to the <br />nearby environment. <br />F. Battle Mountain Must Monitor The Ground Water :For A <br />Post-Reclamation Period. <br />Battle Mountain has installed ten ground water <br />monitoring wells throughout the mine site and has commi~rted to <br />quarterly sampling. Because of the potential for cyanide <br />contamination, Battle Mountain should be required to monitor the <br />ground water on a quarterly schedule for a period of 30 years <br />pursuant to MLRD Rule 6 and C.R.S. § 34-32-116(1). <br />G.
