ENVIRONMENTS INC.
61LOAM HTONE - BEDROCK MINE
M.L.R.B. PERMIT i~ M-97-OB6
JANUARY 7, 1998
PACE 5
perimeter of the mine. The north end of the mine floor would
have to gradually slope to the canyon. This may mean that only a
small part of the north side will be mined for slab rock. I have
revised the Reclamation Plan Map showing how this may look.
Water is not an issue on this land. The minor pools in the
bottom of the ephemeral canyon will not be disturbed. The up
gradient flows that replenish these pools will not be disturbed
by mining so nothing will change. Since no mining will take
place in the bottom of the canyons and only loose rock will be
removed then the carrying capacity should actually be increased.
I also think that any precipitation water that collects in the
mined area could provide a source of water for wildlife and stock
that does not exist now.
(d) See the typical sketch for the location of the topsoil
piles. Considering the general plan for "reclaiming as we
go", there will be a minimal "pushing" distance, resulting
in a modest bond cost.
(e) This timetable would only apply for the final five years of
the mining operation. Since reclamation has to run concur-
rent with mining, for mining to be able to progress, all but
20 acres of the total mine would be reclaimed or undis-
turbed. The numbers used in Exhibit L better reflect the
amount of work necessary if mining ceased or when mining
ended. The timetable below is for a typical 20 acres of
disturbance. The total slope length exceeds the perimeter
length because the working face would also have to be
sloped.
ACRES t LINEAR FEET
PHASE YEARS TOTAL
AREA REVEGETATI
ON NEEDED REBOILING ROAD SLOPING
COMPLETE SLOPING
NEEDED
SLAB 3-5 15.00 15.00 10.80 0.0 1,143 2,468
SURFACE 3-5 5.00 5.00 NA 0.0 NA NA
(f)(ii) The following seed mix and rates are the same as for
the Pinon Mine with Little Bluestem added.
