-2-
ATTACHMENT
Conditions for HAZELTINE MINE, ADAMS COUNTY gravel operation
J,~y z, z~ooa
1. Operations are limited to the hours between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and
8:00 a.m, and 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays with no operation allowed on Sundays. When
electricity is available, no diesel equipment may be used on site if there is suitable
electric equipment that can do the job. This is intended to reduce the noise of
operations and to limit operations to daytime hours during the week and limited hours on
weekends. - -
2. Construction of a twenty (20) foot high landscaped berm along the entire eastern
property line, and a similar twelve (12) foot high berm along the 104^ side. The berms
should undulate (horizontally and vertically) in places to provide visual interest and the
majority of landscaping should be planted in front of the berm to allow the berm to be
removed after the operation ceases, without eliminating the established vegetation and
landscape. Some of the landscaping should be planted on the berm in locations where it
would look natural to remain after the mining ceases. The side slopes of the berm
should not exceed 3:1 and should be decreased in some areas to approach 8:1 to
eliminate the levee appearance. Additional landscaping material should be clustered in
the lower undulations to offset the loss of berm height.
3. Use of electric dredge and electric de-watering in order to reduce noise levels produced
from site. The backup alarms for all equipment should be set to the lowest (quietest)
setting, which still meets Federal safety standards.
4. All site lighting should be downward facing to reduce glare to surrounding properties and
the site lighting should not be allowed to exceed one (1) foot candle at the property lines.
5. Urethane or similar noise reducing material should be used to line all chutes.
6. Install a sprinkler system that will wet any road surfaces in the pit area, and any other
areas that mitigate a dust problem.
7. Exclude from mining area 150 feet from the fence line on the southern and eastern
boundaries.
8. Mining operation should be limited to three (3) years from the date permit is granted,
and all reclamation should be completed no later than one (1) year following the
termination of the mining operation.
