_Mr. David Berry
July 15, 1985
Page Six
EXHBIT L - RECLAMATION COSTS
Every reclamation specialist in the Division has worked with
and agreed upon the estimated reclamation cost used in this
application. In the past six months these have been the agreed
upon costs in which financial warranties have been set and
bonded, through all applications submitted by Rindahl &
Associates, Inc.
To check the accuracy of these prices, we called several
reclamation companies in the Denver metro area. The following
information we gathered is for your review:
1 . Rip/Scarify and or disc - Average price is $30.00-
$40.00/acre. We calculate $50.00/hour @ 1 hour/acre in our
costs. The $151 .00/hour cost you used is highly inaccurate.
2. We,always use the blue book price of $.80/yd' for topsoil
replacement.
3. Seeding - you used an average cost of $15.00/lb. Seed mixes
for Colorado range from $.30 to $15.00/lb. - $15.00 is the
maximum, not the average.
The following seed mix:
Sand bluestem
Indiangrass
Prairie sandreed
Sand dropseed
Fourwing saltbush
At approximately 15 lbs/ac is considered a very expen-
sive mix, in which the estimated price given by retailers in
the Denver area is $130.00/acre.
We always use $125.00/acre, an over priced estimate, to
compensate and include the $30.00-$40.00 drilling cost.
4. Seedbed preparation/drill - Seedbed preparation is the
ripping/scarifying or discing and topsoil distribution. This
cost is being accounted for twice.
The average cost for drilling is $30.00 to $40.00 per
acre.
..
.-J'i x,.c:...: M
