' VIII. EXHIBIT G -WATER INFORMATION
' 3.01 Introduction
The proposed mining operation is located in the alluvial t]oodplain of the Cache La Poudre
River, in the City of Greeley, in Weld County. Colorado. The alluvial sand and gravel
deposit averages approximately 59 ft in thickness and is overlain by approximately five feet of
' lean clay with sand and clayey sand overburden. The operator proposes to reclaim the land
once mining activities have been completed. Reclamation will consist of an open lake or
' water reservoir.
Dry mining will be utilized to remove the upper 30 tt of sand and gravel. W'et mining
techniques will be used to remove the remaining product to the top of bedrock. The
operation is not expected to materially in}ure ;round water rights. It is anticipated that the
' water wells in the area will be able tb withdraw their permitted amounts.
The State Engineer requires that all holders of water well permits within 600 ft be notified
' and permission be ;ranted to the applicant to ob[ain a new water well permit for the proposed
gravel pit. There is a presumption of injury to wells located with the 600-It limi[. A search
' of the State Engineer's database shows that there are 1~ permitted wells located within 600 ft
of the mining boundary. An addi[ional 6 wells are permitted, bu[ not located according to
' SEO records. The property consisted of a feedlot utilizing wells by diverting
water from the Cache La Poudre River alluvium. Presently, the feedlot is not in operation
and there are no cattle present on the site. There is no active irrigation on the property. No
adverse impact to the surface water system is expected. Water consumed by the mining
' operation will be replaced to [he surface water system under a Substitute Supply plan
regula[ed and approved by the State Engineer prior [o commencement of minine.
' 3.03 Ground ~Yater System
Fur this permit. the database of penniued wells at the State Engineer's Oftice tugs reviewed
' to identify water wells located within 600 ft of the property boundan- and screened within the
Quaternan~ Poi[-Pines Creek .-~Iluvium.
