4 - 48 <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Torriorthents is a pale brown or yellowish brown loam to <br />very gravelly loam about 7 inches thick. The substratum to depths ranging from less than 20 to <br />more than 60 inches is a gravelly fine sandy loam or gravelly fine sandy clay loam. <br />Permeability of the Torriorthents is moderate to moderately rapid. Available water capacity <br />is moderate. Effective rooting depth is the depth to bedrock. Runoff is moderate to moderately <br />high and the erosion hazard for water is high. Wind erosion hazard is moderate to severe. <br />The unit is mainly used for wildlife habitat. It is also used for range for mule deer. <br />The present plant community is mainly juniper, greasewood, big sage, and mixed grasses, <br />including saliva wild rye. <br />• <br /> <br />~ Volume 1 4-29-96 <br />
