2.9 Proposed Hydrological Monitoring and Analysis Reductions for 1990.
Trapper proposes and requests Division approval to reduce the following hydrological
monitoring and analyses criteria from our approved program (Sections 4.8.S.la and
4.8.5.2a). These reductions are based on historical data trends and recommendations
from Hydra Engineering Inc.
2.9.1 Parameter Reductions
These proposed reductions affect Table 4.8-12a, pages 4-241(c,d):
Vanadium
Drop from list A-1 (surface water) and lists B and D (groundwater). There are
no suspect levels and analytical values have historically been near the detection
limit for almost all samples. The highest detected concentration in 15 years was
0.20 ppm (1983).
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
Reduce TDS sampling frequency to the NPDES quarterly requirement for all
surface water sites. Monitor interim salinity levels with field specific conduc-
.~ [ante. Drop TDS from groundwater lists C, D and E. Analyze for TDS during
the third quarter annually (LIST B) to verify salinity trends between TDS and
specific conductance.
Total Concentrations
Drop all Total concentrations for Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium,
Copper and Selenium from lists B, D and E. Monitor groundwater parameters
as dissolved concentrations until the Division requires otherwise. However con-
tinue dissolved and total concentrations for Iron, Lead and Manganese for ttte
current permit period (1988-1992). Then drop all '"Total" in the next permit
period (1993).
Ash Wells
Reduce sampling from list D to list C. All list D parameters are included in the
annual sampling (list B) and there are no indications of suspect levels for the
eight additional parameters.
Lux Well
Has been monitored for List E the agreed upon year (9/85-9/1989). There have
been no suspect levels and the data has been consistent. We propose reducing
,~~. sampling to list C quarterly and List B annually.
~rinn__..:._._=.ay
