• TRANSPORTATION
Trucks will be used to transport the material approximately 314 mile from the quarry site
to the 1-70 frontage road. The existing haul road to 1-70 will be improved with select
materials during the life of the quarry on an as-needed basis.
All but two short sections of the existing haul road are on property owned by the
applicant. The short sections (700 & 800 feet) of road are on property owned by
Peabody Coal. Easements have been requested and are in the process of being
prepared.
It is estimated that an average of 25 loads with a maximum of 150 loads will be hauled
from the site per day. A water truck will be used for dust suppression on the haul road
as needed.
Access to the 1-70 distribution point will be at the truck stop interchange near Island
Acres. The 1-70 roads have been designed for heavy use and should not be negatively
impacted by the additional proposed haul traffic. The close access to a major point of
delivery enhances the value of the proposed mineral extraction site.
•
3
