Seek collaborations that provide value-added results in pest management. <br />SECTION XIII -DESIGNATION OF PESTS <br />The Boazd of County Commissioners will designate pest management priorities on an as <br />needed basis in response to public input and the recommendations of state and federal agencies, <br />staff input, and the technical advisory committee. <br />SECTION XIV -ASSESSMENT OF PEST PROBLEMS <br />Pueblo County has historically experienced cyclic problems, with predators, <br />grasshoppers, army miller moths, galls, grasshoppers, and other pests to animals, plants, and <br />... , <br />humans. <br />Due to the flexible, sporadic, and cyclic nature or pest impacts, the. Boazd of County <br />Commissioners need to respond to different community pests concerns each year:. For that <br />purpose the County Weed and Pest Coordinator in conjunction with the Technical Weed and <br />Pest Advisory Committee will assess pest problems at quarterly meetings and make <br />recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners as appropriate. <br />SECTION XV -PEST M_~NAGEMENT -STRATEGIES <br />Pest management sffategies include the integrated management of pests using the most <br />economical method that is envirotunenta[1y sound. This strategy involves evaluation of pest <br />criticality, impacts, control windows, food source, host, life cycle, role in the ecosystem, cultural <br />management methods, biological methods, chemical methods, and education needs. <br />Specific strategy for each pest will vary based on technical information and available <br />methods. Management plans, enforcement protocols, and record keeping requirements will be <br />those required by Colorado Pest Statutes. <br />SECTION XVI -PEST MANAGEMENT -TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE <br />The Pueblo Count~,• Weed and Pest Coordinator working with Colorado State University <br />Cooperative Extension will assist all private, public, and government entities requesting <br />assistance in developing pest management plans. Resources for development of such plans will <br />include the technical assistance and information from the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the <br />USDA Animal Health and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS). the USDA Natural Resources <br />Conservation Service (NRCS), the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS), the Colorado State <br />University, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and any other qualified collaborators. <br />Following is a listing of persons and agencies that can provide assistance with the development <br />of an effective pest management plan: <br />Colorado State University Cooperative Extension, Pueblo County Extension Office, 215 <br />West 10`h Street, Room 212, Pueblo County Courthouse, Pueblo, CO 81003-2992, <br />21 <br />
