26, Township 6 North, Range 87 West (Map 21). The area adjacent to the BMG will
be the primary source of riprap, and the other area will be used as a secondary
source, especially where riprap is required to stabilize areas that are in close
proximity to these borrow areas. Sun Coal Company will use the secondary riprap
borrow areas when the haul distance is less than 1,000 yards.
The primary riprap source has a reserve of approximately 1,500 cubic yards,
whereas the secondary source has approximately 75 cubic yards. It is difficult
to anticipate the amount of riprap required to control erosion until the need
arises. Sun Coal Company anticipates approximately 25 cubic yards will be used
annually, or approximately 250 cubic yards during the bonding period.
When borrow material is required from the primary borrow site, all avail-
able topsoil from the designated area will be removed and stored for reclama-
• tion. After the riprap has been removed, the disturbed area will be graded to
blend with the adjacent topography, topsoiled, and revegetated (Table 2.05.4-2)
in accordance with approved reclamation procedures. Riprap will be removed to
disturb as small an area as practicable, and borrow activities will be conducted
in such a manner as not to limit or interfere with the landowner's access or
utilization of the area adjacent to the riprap borrow area.
When riprap is borrowed from the secondary source, the material will be
picked from the surface by hand and will be reclaimed as previously di cussed.
Revegetation - Monitoring Plan
Monitoring activities include the following:
. Conducting cover transect surveys.
. Obtaining production samples.
. Evaluate trends and diversity in vegetation.
•
- 380 - (Rev. 5/86)
