II I IIIIff IIIIIII ~II Doc Date:1y1112001
sss
• SIE 2.05.6 MITIGATION OF SURFACE COAL MINING OPERATION IMPACTS
Air Pollution Control Plan
Sun Coal Company has a current fugitive dust permit from the Air Pollution
Control Division of the Colorado Department of Health. The permit is valid; but
since the mine and all associated activities have ceased, Sun Coal Company will
be in compliance with all applicable air quality regulations during the bonding
period.
Fish and Wildlife Plan
A description of the wildlife resources of the Meadows No. 1 mine permit
area is presented in Section 2.04.11. Runoff from the mine area and the decom-
missioned haul road is contro]led to minimize offsite erosion and sedimentation
impacts to adjacent streams and aquatic habitat. Sediment control structures
include sedimentation ponds, sediment traps, riprapped ditches, culvert inlets,
• rolling dips, runouts, and contour furrows. Current reclamation activities
include monitoring and maintenance during the 10-year bonding period to ensure
fish and wildlife impacts are mitigated.
Wildlife is expected to re-establish during the reclamation period, and it
is expected that the reclamation will enhance wildlife diversity and produc-
tivity. During the reclamation bonding period, wildlife will be protected by:
. Minimizing off-road vehicle use of the backfilled mine permit area.
Prohibiting hunting or the discharging of firearms on the permit area.
Prohibiting the use of non-persistent pesticides and herbicides on the
permit area.
•
- 374 - (Rev. 5/86)
