The railroad was relocated to the
south in the vicinity of the Sanborn Creek Mine portals.
Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of fill was required in the new
railroad embanlonent. The fill was obtained from borrow areas above
(north) of the tracks generally within the railroad right-of-way.
The borrow areas contained a substantial amount of large rock that
was unsuitable for the railroad embankment. The large rock was
wasted in two areas. Most of the rock was placed on the outslope
(south slope) of the railroad embankment. The remaining rock was
placed along the north edge or old State Highway 133 immediately
east of the Sanborn Creek Mine portals.
