Kent Gorham
November 30, 2005
Page 2
Cleaning of the wells for the purpose of obtaining water samples was conducted in late July.
During this process, the casing failed at or near the bottom (screened) interval in both the NF-Ol
and NF-03 monitor wells. Additional work was undertaken to `salvage' the two wells. Northfield
subsequently determined that the wells were beyond repair and decided to re-drill both wells.
Northfield entered into a contract with a second drilling company and, during November 2005,
twin monitoring wells at the NF-Ol and NF-03 sites were completed and both of the damaged
original wells were sealed. A well abandonment report, dated November 26, 2005, has been
submitted under separate cover for NF-O1 and NF-03. For record keeping purposes, the twin wells
are designated and shown on the attached map as NF-OlA and NF-03A.
All drilling activities to complete NF-OlA and NF-03A were accomplished with only minor
additional disturbance to the drill sites. Following completion of the wells, Northfield loaded and
hauled all resulting drill cuttings to a site off the exploration area, and redistributed topsoil as
necessary. Areas that had been re-disturbed at both sites were then reseeded by broadcast methods.
In addition, the NF-02 site was reseeded to take advantage of the fall seeding period.
Northfield has completed all proposed drilling activities as proposed in the approved Notice of
Intent. The only remaining activities include establishing of vegetation and sealing of the three
monitoring wells.
Please contact me at your convenience if you have any questions or require additional information
concerning this report.
Sincerely
Allen S.
