EXHIBIT B
Site Description
BACHUS PIT
(proposed dirt borrow site)
This site lies within a 145 acre tract owned by the applicant, Daniel M.
Russell, and occupies an area of high ground that currently has greasewood,
rabbitbrush and pricklypear growing on it. A road across the adjacent land
owned by the applicant will be constructed to provide access from County
South 106 Road to the site. As shown on the accompanying survey plat
(EXHIBIT E), this access road will be entering the property owned by
applicant near the northwest corner of the 145 acre tract. This is being
done to keep truck traffic from passing in front of a home located on the
west side of the county road at a point about 600 feet south of the point
of access of the new road with said South 106 Road.
The nearest home to the site is the home of the Applicant, Daniel M.
Russell, and it is approximately 850 feet southwest of the proposed pit. A
ditch easement passes south of the proposed pit and, at its nearest
position, is 80 feet from the southeast corner of the pit. This ditch is
part of the Commonwealth Irrigation Company's system and although the ditch
has not been used for at least 22 years, it has not been formally
abandoned.
There is not currently any water source on the property and the excavation
will not be allowed to get into the standing water table. On April 29,
1995, the Soil Conservation Service drilled a hole near the west boundary
of the site to a depth of 14 feet and did not encounter ground water.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife has not been contacted at this time. The
only wildlife on the property are rabbits, mice, ground squirrels and an
occasional coyote.
