Bowie Resources Limited plans to drill four
exploratory holes on the property this fall.
To comply with section 7(c) of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended,
Federal agencies or their designees are required to obtain from the Service
• information concerning any species or critical habitat, listed or proposed to
be listed, which may be present in the area of a proposed construction
project. Therefore, we are furnishing you the following list of species which
may be present in the concerned area.
FEDERALLY LISTED SPECIES
Peregrine falcon Falco peregrines
Bald eagle Naliaeetus Teucocephalus
Southwestern willow flycatcher fmpidonaz traiTlii extimus
Colorado squawfish Ptychocheilus Lucius
Razorback sucker Xyrauchen texanus
Bonytail Gila elegans
Humpback chub Gila cypha
Although we have not received reports of peregrine falcons nesting on the
property, cliff habitat suitable for nesting could exist. A survey for
peregrines should be conducted during the nesting season if potential nesting
habitat is found on or near the property. Bald eagles winter in the North
Fork valley in the vicinity of the project. We have no site specific
information for the Southwestern willow flycatcher, however, a survey should
be conducted if suitable riparian nesting habitat exists and would be
disturbed by drilling or mining. If drilling or mining causes a depletion of
water to the North Fork Gunnison River, endangered fish and their critical
habitat would be affected.
We would like to bring to your attention species which are candidates for
~ official listing as threatened or endangered species (Federal Resister, Vol.
56, No. 225, November 21, 1991).
