~ , iii iiiiiiiiiiiuiii <br />Rationale for Recommendation for Approval, Over Objections; Regular 112 <br />Construction Materials New Application, <br />David Lincoln <br />Bennett Sand & Gravel Pit #2, File No. M-2001-038 <br />July l3, 2001 <br />Introduction <br />On July 5, 2001 the Division of Minerals and Geology ("Division") issued its recommendation <br />for approval of a Regular 112 Construction Materials Application, over objections. This <br />document is intended to provide a basis for the Division's recommended approval over various <br />concerns and reasons for objection to the Bennett Sand & Gravel Pit #2, File No. M-2001-038. <br />The David Lincoln application was found complete and considered filed with the Division on <br />April 6, 2001. The site is located approximately 4 miles northeast of Bennett in Adams County, <br />Colorado. The 47.75 acre permit area is located in the NE l/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 2, T3S, <br />R63W, 6th P.M. The proposed operation will by a "dry alluvial" operation and will provide <br />sand, gravel, and borrow materials for the surrounding area. The maximum disturbance to be <br />expected at any one time will be 30 acres. Mining depth will range from l0 to 18 feet. The <br />applicant has committed to staying at least two (2) feet above the groundwater surface a[ all times <br />throughout the life of the operation. Disturbed slopes will be backf"illed and graded to a gradient <br />of no more than 3H:1 V, topsoiled, and revegetated. The site will be reclaimed to achieve a post- <br />mining land use of rangeland. <br />I.
