Note that the azeas above only include mining azeas.
One entrance will be used to access and mine the pit from the East side of the permit. The access
is not currently present, but will be created along with the mining activities and will be left after
reclamation for access. This new access can be seen on Map C-2. Details of the access aze shown
on Map C-4 which is part of the Access Application to Rio Blanco County. The road will be
approximately 20-24 feet wide and 850 feet long. In order to meet County standazds, the first 50
feet of the road will be paved in order to limit dirt tracking on the County Road 5. The road will
be primarily flat, following the original topography, with only the last portion at a 10% grade to
access the staging azea. Additionally, a 24" culvert will be placed across the existing ditch to
allow for water to continue flowing through the ditch.
Topsoil will be stored along the north perimeter of the lake in order to be ready for easy
reclamation. Also, topsoil will be stored in a T high berm along the southern edge of the permit
boundary. The topsoil stockpile along the north side of the pit will allow a visual buffer to the
north. Additional topsoil will be used for reclaiming the pit into more natural looking
topography.
No explosives will be used in wnjunction with the mining and reclamation operation.
3. Mining Timetable
The following timetable is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the mine
after October 2006 and is based on mining and selling 250,000 tons of total product per yeaz:
Table D-4 Reclamation Timetable
Task # Description Time Needed Months
1 Mine Phase 1. 14.28
2 Reclaim Phase I, and mine Phase 2. 15.48
3 Reclaim Phase 2, and mine Phase 3. 13.3
4 Reclaim Phase 3. 2.0
Total months 45.08
Total years 3.8
White River City Pit December 06 D-5
