A <br />• ~ ~I 1 <br />EXHIBIT D-1 - WILDLIFE INFORMATION <br />III III IIIIIIIIII III <br />Hawkeye Mine - Pioneer Dravan, Inc. <br />October 2, 1978 <br />The following information pertaining t^ wildlife is provided for usa by <br />the Land Reclamation Board in their consideration of a mining permit <br />for Pioneer Uravan_ Inr_ <br />Hawkeye Mine <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife does hereby find, to the best of our <br />knowledge, that the impact of the proposed mining operation on wildlife <br />will 6e <br />minor <br />X moderate <br />mayor <br />Kline Location: SW} Sec 32 Township 44 North l;ange 18 West <br />Wildlife Species List: (may be attached) Deer, coyote, bobcat, raptors, cotton- <br />tail rabbits, ground squirrels, reptiles and many forms of. small mammals and birds <br />inhabit this area. <br />Endangered Species Impacted: None that are known <br />Assessment of Impact ^n Wildlife: The construction of numerous exploration and <br />service roads, resulting losses of wildlife habitat, and human activity associated <br />with the mining activities will have adverse impacts on wildlife. Wintertime activity <br />will have an impact on the value of the area as big game winter range. <br />Mine Reclamation Recommendations: (may be attached) Exploration and service <br />roads should be closed and revegetated with natural vegetation. Water resources <br />available in the area should be developed for wildlife and livestock, where feasible. <br />Extreme caution should be taken to prevent fuel oils and tailings from getting into <br />the drainages which feed the nearby Dolores River. Division District Wildlife Managers <br />should be consulted during closure and reclamation of exploration roads so that road <br />closures will be done to enhance wildlife habitat. <br />Prepared by Ron Arant Title Division WilcLlife Manager <br />Data September 20. 1978 <br />• , <br />~ _ <br />
