r~

12/26/79 Memo, p. 2, #2(a)(6)

"6. Diversity - The application does not clearly
address the diversity question. The only information
given is the number of species present. The applicant
should use one of the published diversity indices or
some other method to better explain the diversity of
species at the site.
See pp. 779-130(a), 779-131(a), 780-119(a),
780-120(a), 780-121(a), 780-124(a),
760-125(a), 816-143(a)
12/26/79 Memo, p. 2, #2(b)(1)
"b. Section 780-18 1) The proposed seed mixture is
comprised of three lifeforms: grasses, forbs and
shrubs. The grass component of the mixture is comprised
of 338 introduced species. The number of introduced
grasses should be reduced. The supporting argument for
the use of introduced species based on land use is not
directly applicable to this issue. Land use is based
on management related activities, rather than the
vegetation or cover of the land. The application rate
should be translated into PLS thus giving the number of
pure live seeds/f t2. Based on the seeding information,
the seeding rate is actually 153 seeds/ft which is
significantly greater than that recommended by Cook."
See pp. cited in response to 12/26/79 Memo, p. Z,
#2(a)(6), above.
12/26/79 Memo, p. 2, #'2(b)(2)
"2. The applicant should submit site specific data to
demonstrate that cereal grains meet the mulching require-
ments of 816.14(c). Also, it is not certain if the
wood chip mulch will be used throughout the life of the
operation. In view of this, a contigency mulching plan
should be submitted.
See pp. 816-148(a), 780-134(a)-(e); 780-132(a)
