<br />• Page 5-20 2(e)(ii)(iii) -The seed mix in table 5-7 is way too heavy. <br />According to my calculations there would be 338.17 pure live seedslft 2 <br />at this rate. The final mix should be applied at approximate SO to 60 <br />PLS/ft 2 if drilled and double that amount if broadcast or hydromulched. <br />The basic components seem okay but the portions will need to re- <br />calculated. <br />Response <br />The text has been modified to reflect that the woody plant revegetation will <br />be 10001ive stems per area. Clusters of woody plants will be transplanted <br />in lower spots on the terrain and therefore cannot be mapped. A front end <br />loader will be used to remove & transport to depressions of the reclaimed <br />azea. This will be a random placing of clusters but projected at five <br />clusters per acre. <br />The seed mix was modified in Table 5-7. The same mix was used on <br />existing and will be used on future topsoil piles. Crimping, mulching and <br />other means will be used in steep slope areas but not over the entire <br />property. <br />The weed control language was inserted to the text. <br />• The text has been revised to reflect the 1000 live stems per area as the <br />standazd. Table 5-6 has been revised to reflect the seeding rates <br />recommended by the Division. <br />u si n <br />2.05.6(3)(a) Paragraph (2) states the degree of impact cannot be assessed with the <br />current baseline ground and surface water quantity and quality data.... If <br />there is insufficient baseline data to determine the impact of hits surface <br />mine, then the permit cannot be approved at this time until such <br />information is available. Perhaps a more detailed study of the data <br />provided, including the Annual Hydrology Reports by hydrologists may <br />shed light on the possible impacts at this time. <br />Response <br />The text has been clarified to reflect that there is sufficient data to project <br />and conclude that the impact of the mining is negligible.
