02/14/95 15:OS $303 24611 WILDLIFE N.W, f~ 003
•
6f importance as sharp-tailed grouse and greater sandhill cranes.
Recent concerns with rates of lek extinction in NW Colorado are
indicative of the problems this specie faces in our area. Personal
interviews with old time residents indicate that existing sage
grouse populations in the Twenty-Mile Park area are a drop in the
bucket to what they once were. Sage grouse activity on and adjacent
to the permit area should be monitored closely.
That's about it for my comments. As I mentioned earlier my concerns
are primarily with the broad latitude the author took in making
some assumptions. 2 assume that any required monitoring work will
be made available to us in a timely manner.
