Northfield Response: Roof and floor analysis is forthcoming.
DRMS response: Please submit this information when available.
11. Please submit the thickness and engineering properties of clays or clay shales, if any, in the
stratum immediately above and below the coal seam to be mined (Rule 2.04.6(3)(a)(iii)(E).
Northfield Response: Exhibit H is reserved for this information.
DRMS response: Please submit this information when available.
12. Please update text on page 2.04-13 under the heading Hydrology Description to include a
reference to the Exhibit that contains the compiled hydrology data collected over the
baseline monitoring period. Also, submit any additional baseline hydrologic information
collected over the baseline monitoring period for inclusion into this exhibit.
Northfield Response: The hydrology description and Exhibit 13 were updated.
DRMS response: Response accepted.
12a. The hydraulic conductivity information derived from pump test data as indicated
on page 2 of the BBA report should be provided to the Division and incorporated
into the permit application package as an exhibit.
13. Exhibit K identifies numerous registered wells within, and in close proximity to, the
proposed permit boundary on the northwest, northeast, and southeast. Please submit a
table or permit text that details ownership of these wells, uses, and reference to location in
accordance with Rule 2.04.7(1)(a)(iv).
Northfield Response: Wells were tabulated in Exhibit K and permit text changed.
DRMS response: Well 248239 is improperly identified in Exhibit K regazding ownership.
The well belongs to Mr. Gary Zak. Change of address records were submitted and accepted
by the Division of Water Resowces in November 2006 for this well. Please correct this
information. Other wells identified as possibly being affected by mining operations
should be reviewed for accuracy of ownership based on current records of the State
Engineer's Office.
13a. On page 2.04-20 it is stated that a review of well permits indicates that wells are
completed in alluvial deposits within the Chandler Creek drainage system. In
accordance with 2.04.7(1) please provide a description and characterization of the
alluvial groundwater to substantiate the claim (Page 2.04-16 Revised 5/01/07 last
paragraph, second sentence) that this unit is not an aquifer. Similar descriptions
were provided for all other formations of interest including the Vermejo, Raton,
Poison Canyon, and Ocean Wave Coal Seam on page 2.04-17 of the permit
application.
