commencement of final reclamation is many years in the future, the Division requests that
Northfield include a statement in the text stating that all necessary county and landowner
approvals will be in place prior to burying any demolition debris on the site.
Northfield Response: Permit text added concerning debris burial approval.
DBMS: Response accepted.
26. Page 2.05.4-6 discusses the Topsoil Removal, Storage and Redistribution Plan. Again,
as in question IB above, there appears to be a discrepancy in the volume of topsoil
available for replacement. Please take a very close look at this and provide a detailed
discussion of how the volume in the topsoil balance was derived. Additionally, please
include a table for the topsoil balance.
Northfield Response: Topsoil information was added to permit text.
DRMS: Response accepted.
27. Pages 2.05.4-11 and 2.05.4-12 discuss the Sealing or Management of Mine Openings and
Boreholes. The discussion of the sealing of boreholes appears to be adequate. The
Division, however, requests that Northfield provide detailed diagrams for each of the
possible sealing methods described. These diagrams will add clarity to the discussion
and allow for a more accurate calculation of the reclamation cost estimate.
Northfield Response: Sealing methods and details were added to permit text.
DRMS: Response accepted.
This concludes our adequacy review of the revised materials. Please submit responses to the issues
identified in bold text as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincere
r
Kent A. Gorham
Environmental Protection Specialist II
