Shelton <br />Director <br />TO: Brian Munson <br />FROM: Jim Pendleton <br />RE: Review of t Geotec ical Rspects of the Dorchester-Fruita (!1 & H2 <br />Coal Mine :P Program Application <br />I have reviewed the materials submitted by Dorchester-Fruita in support of <br />the permanent program application for the Fruita NZ and b2 coal mines. I <br />forward the following r_omments for your consideration. <br />Rock ~Fi l1 at the Frui to !~l Mine Portal <br />Materials identical to those submitted within the permanent program <br />application were submitted for a technical revision in November of 1980. <br />Please see attached memo to Jim Xerron, dated December 11, 1980, for <br />appropriate comments. <br />Coal Processing Waste Bank <br />Materials identical to those submitted within the permanent program <br />application were submitted for a technical revision in November of 1980. <br />Please see attached memo to Jim Xerron, dated December I1, 1980, for <br />appropriate comments. <br />Subsidence <br />While the application's treatment of subsidence is brief, it may well be <br />acceptable, The application states that no structure nor renewable resource <br />Lands exist within the permit area. If this is indeed a valid representation, <br />which you and Roy Cox will have to judge, their application is acceptable. If <br />not, they will need to prepare an appropriate response to Rule 2.05.6(6), <br />Sediment Pond bl and f12 Embankments <br />Insufficient information is presented within the application to allow <br />determination of whether or not either of the pond embankments fall within <br />the auspices of Rule 4.05.6(10), If the vertical height, measured from the <br />bottom of the channel to the bottom of the still way exceed 10 feet, the <br />applicant will have to prepare appropriate stability analyses, pursuant to <br />Rule 4.05.6(IO)(b). <br />STATE OF COLORADO R~CHnF~M.
