4. Tab 17 page 13, the last sentence states, "drawdown is directed toward the west and
southeast area of the mine." Please explain how the drawdown from the production
well will be directed towazd the west and southeast azea of the mine rather than
radiating concentrically from the well.
5. Tab 17 page .14, Seneca states that there aze no wells other than Seneca Coal
Companies Seneca II-W production well that produce from the Trout Creek
Sandstone, so there is no impact to adjacent wells. However, the Division is aware
of three other wells in the Trout Creek Sandstone, associated with the Foidel Creek
Mine. At least one of these wells is located within the one-foot drawdown radius of
ten miles predicted by Seneca Coal Company. The text should be changed to include
these wells and a discussion of potential impacts to the wells.
6. Ly recent correspondence between Kent Gorham of DMG and Mike Altavilla of
SCC, SCC agreed to change the SEDCAD+ design to use a base flow representative
of what the operator estimates for pit pumpage discharge (2 cfs maximum). Please
revise the SEDCAD+ design in the permit application to account for pit pumpage.
Please respond to these concerns in the form of a revision by August 31, 1995. If you have
any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
S.
Erica S. Crosby
Environmental Protection Specialist
c:\misc\950703
