Edited November 6, 2006 <br />PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Northfield "Mine Project <br />Northfield Partners, LLC (Northfield), P.O. Box 260678, Littleton, Colorado 80163, <br />has filed an application for a new underground coal mining operation with the State <br />of Colorado, Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS). The permit <br />application has been developed and submitted pursuant to the Colorado Surface <br />Mining Reclamation Act, 1973 C.R.S. 34-33-101 et seq., and Surtace Mining Control <br />and Reclamation Act, 30 U.S.C. 1201 et seq. <br />Areas to be affected by proposed surface and underground operations are <br />encompassed by the proposed Northfield permit area located in south central <br />Colorado in Fremont County. The Northfield permit area is located approximately <br />three miles south of the incorporated Canon City. A limited area for mine support <br />facilities and portals, located within the permit area, will be constructed on the north <br />side of Chandler Creek. The proposed mine access and haul road leading to the <br />facilities area will intersect the right-of-way of County Road 79 a distance of 0.52 <br />miles west of the junction of County Road 79 and County Road 11A. <br />The mine permit area contains approximately 1,430 acres, bounded on the west by <br />County Road 77 and its northern limit approaches the south edge of the town of <br />Brookside. Chandler Creek and County Road 79 bisect the permit area from <br />southwest to northeast. The eastern permit boundary crosses County Road 79 <br />approximately 250 feet east of the entrance to the aforementioned mine access <br />road. <br />Lands comprising the proposed permit area include the following portions in <br />Township 19 South, Range 70 West, Denver Base and Meridian: <br />Section 11: SW'/aSW'/a; SE'/aSW'/a; SW'/aSE'/a; SE'/aSE'/a; <br />N'/~ N W'/aSE'/a; N'/zNE'/aSE'/a <br />Section 12: SW'/aSW'/a; SE'/aSW'/a; N'/zNW'/aSW'/a <br />Section 13: NW'/a; N'/zSW'/a; S'/zSW'/a <br />Section 14: NE'/a; SE'/a; E'/zSW'/a <br />Section 22: E'/zNE'/aNE'/a; E'/zSE'/aNE'/a <br />Section 23: N'/z <br />Section 24: NW'/aNW'/a <br />These areas are shown on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Canon City, <br />Colorado, quadrangle map. <br />The following hold surface and mineral interests within the mine permit boundaries: <br />Betty Adamic, Daniel and Marie Adamic <br />John L. and John Paul Ary <br />Myron F.
