25. A statement regarding obtaining approvals to bury demolition debris on site prior
to reclamation was added to the permit text on page 2.05.3-9 and 2.05.4-4.
26. The volume of salvaged topsoil was estimated by measuring azeas on the map that
will be disturbed for construction of the facilities. This azea is less than the 20
acres of disturbance, as stated several times in the permit application, because the
20 acres is the azea within the proposed disturbance boundary -this includes
pieces that will not be disturbed. Estimated topsoil volume and associated
recovery azeas, including average swell and compaction factors, were determined
and were included on permit Table 2.05.4-1, page 2.05.4-7.
27. Sealing methods for the portal and shaft openings were drawn and included as
permit Figure 2.05.4-2, page 2.05.4-16, and Figure 2.05.4-3, page 2.05.4-17.
Additional permit modifications as a result of the aforementioned adequacy issues
include:
1. Exhibit V, Drainage and Sediment Control Plan, required changes to include 100-
year storm event flow designs for ditches as a result of adding the refuse pile
structure. A revised plan and map was drafted, final edits and certification are
close to completion. The plan will be forwarded to the Division upon receipt by
Northfield to replace the existing plan in Exhibit V.
2. Map 4, Extent of Abandoned Mine Workings, was edited to reflect changes in the
proposed permit boundary.
3. Map 5, USGS Reconnaissance Map, was edited to reflect changes in the proposed
permit boundary.
4. Map 6, USGS Geologic-Hazards Map, was edited to reflect changes in the
proposed permit boundary.
Please call me directly at 719-275-8951 if you have any question.
Respectfully submitted,
Angela M.
